01
How many phones can use one key?
Each key is for 1 device. You can move it to another phone 2 times a year: Settings › Activation › Change key to release it from the old phone, then enter it on the new one.
02
Will it work in my car?
Any car with Android Auto works — wired or wireless — including aftermarket Android screens. If Google Maps shows up when you connect your phone, you’re good. Cars without Android Auto, or with CarPlay only, can still use Box mode on an Android Box mounted in the car.
03
How soon do I get the key?
The key appears on the page as soon as the payment is received, usually within 30 seconds. Take a screenshot to keep it.
04
If I change phones, does my key still work?
Yes. Go to Settings › Activation › Change key on the old phone to release it, then enter the key on the new one. Allowed 2 times a year. Lifetime keys never expire.
05
Do I need to root my phone?
No — no root and nothing changed in the system. Install from Google Play like any other app — nothing extra to enable. Same for Box mode on an Android Box. See the step-by-step guide.
06
Can I just download and install the .apk?
Better not. Android Auto only shows apps installed in ways it accepts — a sideloaded .apk from elsewhere runs on the phone but won’t appear on the car screen. Install from Google Play: enter your order code/key + Gmail on the guide page to unlock the download yourself.
07
Can I install from Google Play?
Yes — it just isn’t public yet, so search won’t find it. On the Install guide (or Support) page, enter your order code or key and the Gmail signed in on your Android phone to unlock the download yourself — no waiting for anyone. After about a minute open CarStream on Google Play and install. The pass lasts 48 hours; for later updates, enter it again. Your key keeps working — no repurchase, no extra fees.
08
Which phones can’t install it?
It needs Android 8.0 or later and Google Play — below Android 8.0 the app won’t run. Any other phone can install from Google Play: enter your order code/key + Gmail on the guide page to unlock the download.
09
My car has no Android Auto — what can I do?
Use Box mode: mount an Android Box in the car, install CarStream on it and open it. The box is the head unit — the interface runs full screen on the box with touch control, no Android Auto needed. When the box starts with the ignition, the app enters Box mode after a few seconds.
10
Does wireless Android Auto work?
Yes. Wired and wireless work the same. Wireless needs no cable; if you use a cable, use a good one — bad cables are the most common cause of dropouts.
11
Do I have to sign in to YouTube again in the car?
No. Sign in once on the phone and the car screen is signed in too — one shared session. History is shared as well: stop halfway on the phone, then open Keep watching in the car to continue. Signing out on the phone ends the car-screen session immediately.
12
Can video play while driving?
Yes — video keeps playing while the car moves, not locked like other car-screen apps. The driver should still focus on driving: watching is for passengers, while the driver listens and uses the steering-wheel buttons or voice.
13
What can I watch in the car?
Eight sources: YouTube, TikTok, VTVgo, FPT Play, IPTV, Phone, Games and Browser. IPTV plays your own M3U list — the app includes no channels; filter with the app’s search box, mark ★ favourites and reopen the channel you watched last. Phone opens videos, music and photos on the device, no internet needed. The browser opens any site and switches between mobile and desktop versions. Hide sources you don’t use. There are also Games built into the app.
14
Does the ad blocking work everywhere?
No. YouTube is covered most thoroughly: ads are removed from the page data before it renders, including mid-roll, and creator sponsor segments are skipped too. VTVgo has its own blocking. TikTok is not blocked — in-feed ad clips still show as on the phone.
15
Do I need to install any other app?
Nothing else. One install gives three tiles on the car screen: CarStream to browse and watch, CarStream Full for borderless full screen, and CarStream Control, Android Auto’s “now playing” tile — where steering-wheel buttons, voice search and cover art go. Old versions needed a separate Control app; since 1.10 they don’t.
16
Where does the speed bubble get its speed?
From the phone’s GPS, not from the car — so nothing needs wiring. Speed limits come from CarStream itself: no third-party app, accurate and quickly updated. If you’re used to VietMap, Gofa, Waze or Wyn, you can still pick that source in Settings.
17
Will I know if someone calls on Zalo or Messenger while watching?
Yes. A bar appears on the car screen with the caller’s name and the icon of the calling app, even in full-screen video. During a call, tap the button on the bar or swipe it away to hang up — no need to pick up the phone. A small icon shows whether audio goes to the phone, the loudspeaker or the car’s Bluetooth. Needs notification access once when you open the app, and can be turned off in Settings.
18
Can I mirror phone apps to the car screen?
Yes — that’s the Launcher. Any app on the phone can be shown on the car screen with touch control right there; drag to make 2, 3 or 4 windows at once. Needs Android 11 or later: wireless pairing inside the app with a 6-digit code, once — no computer, no extra apps. Android 8–10 phones need a computer once.
19
Does CarStream record my trips?
Yes, if you turn on Trip statistics. Each drive records distance, time, speed and an automatic fuel cost from the consumption you enter; routes are drawn on a real map. It only records while Android Auto is connected, so walking or motorbike rides aren’t counted. Turning the switch off releases location right away, and there’s a button to delete all trip data.
20
Is there navigation on the car screen?
Yes, with the Map add-on (6 months or 1 year, with a key or on its own for an existing key — see the Buy a key page). The car screen gets a full map: search by typing or voice, pick one of three routes and follow step-by-step guidance; turn arrows also show on the HUD or instrument cluster. In Google Maps on your phone, tap Share and choose CarStream to start guiding in the car. Without the Map add-on everything else still works.
21
How do I update, and will I lose my key?
Each update needs a new download pass for your Gmail (passes last 48 hours): enter your order code/key + Gmail on the guide page, wait ~1 minute, then tap Update in Google Play. It installs over the old version, so your key stays activated — no re-entering, no device move used. See the update guide.
22
How can I check my phone works before buying?
See What you need on the home page: Android 8.0 or later, and a car with Android Auto or an Android Box. Not sure? Message Telegram @canhnhatdev or Zalo 0862 880 810 with your car model and phone — we’ll check before you buy. After buying you still get setup help until it runs in your car.
